Long Recover Pleurisy

way into phototherapy

All my life I am dealing with photography. Taking pictures, creating
collages and exploring experimental approaches. Half of my life I have been
teaching these exiting visual language to students of all kind. University students,
foreign students from art schools and photo amateurs...All the time this
research of a personal us of imagery was closely connected to my interest in dream work - dream analysis, dream symbols, dream images- how to understand and use dreams in order to understand myself and important facts of my life. In 2008 I contacted the photo therapy Center of Judy Weiser at the PhotoTherapyCentre in Vancouver to find out about the status quo of photo
therapy in Europe. She directed me to Dr. Carmine Parrella, a psychologist and psychotherapist. Parrella works for the National Public Mental Health Service (ASL) in the town of Lucca, Tuscany in Italy. He is leading and developing since five years experimental multi medial art therapy programs applied to three different context:psychiatric rehabilitation, community based prevention programs, psychotherapy. Actually he conducts the activity of a therapeutic Video Atelier
and therapeutic photo atelier for clients with severe psychiatric disorder. He is experimenting the therapeutic potential of digital image exposition and manipulation and he is trying to develop a program to reduce the stigma toward psychiatric patients through the active use of photo and video by the patients themselves. He offered me the possibility to collaborate with my skills as a
professional photographer in the therapeutic photo atelier.
